Day one:
My goal is to be 130lbs by the end of the year. By the end of summer, I hope to have lost at least 15lbs. (The end of the summer for me is August 21th). That is around 60 days which translates to about .25 lbs a day. Not a unreasonable goal.
I got some gym time this morning- 20 minutes on the elliptical for around 170 calories. I haven't been to the gym in a while, so it sure wasn't easy.
My food today has been healthy but I forgot to total all the calories. I will be better at that this week. I did have organic raisin bran and organic milk which was delicious and full of great nutrients!
Tonight, we are having locally grown chicken thighs (free range with no antibiotics or hormones) which we will grill and organic salad mix with pesticide free tomatoes and grilled corn. Can't wait :)

Shocked and Appalled
A week ago, I sat down and watched "Jamie Oliver- Food Revolution" on Hulu. I enjoyed the show and as a school teacher, think that he has a point with school lunches. After I watched all four episodes, I watched Food Inc. which explains where our food (especially the meat) comes from. Was I ever shocked and appalled! It has been a week and I still don't eat chicken or beef unless I know where it came from. The shows truly changed my thinking.
This summer, I had already decided was going to be the summer I go to the gym, work out and diet. Before I saw the movies, I was going to use the pre-packaged meals for the diet to control portions and calories. After the movies, I decided that those foods would never make it into my house or body! So, I have decided to try to lose weight, be healthy and fit by going to they gym and eating organic food. I will post my progress, recipes and results.
I can't promise it will be easy and it won't be cheap but I will eat organic any time over the "pink slime".
